Volunteering

There are countless ways that you can volunteer and make a difference to the lives of hundreds of children in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. Amongst other things volunteers from the community can share their time and talents with children through painting, sculpture, theatre, dance, music, writing and other creative projects.

Michele Pariza Wacek is just one example of someone who is actively supporting Soul Food's Writing Passport Program. Michele has been generously volunteering her expertise and, in doing so, is supporting the development of this Writing Passport Program.

In order to expand the program need the support of a diverse range of individuals. You could

Offer to edit student writing for an anthology and publication
Educational research student to document the work and apply diagnostic tools to demonstrate added value.
Professional support to set up and Educational Foundation focusing on literacy and writing in particular.
Become a judge and judge writing competitions
Help write submissions for grants from funding groups
Become actively involved in fund raising
Seek support from the corporate sector
Promote this program on your internet site and encourage others to participate in associated events and writing competitions.
Print a student calendar to highlight student work
Provide equipment for special events
Help cater for special event days
