Did you know that the use of pre-made envelopes for standard mail is a relatively new practice? . In days past, a sheet of paper was folded after writing on the inside. Envelopes became popular simply because you could send more than one sheet of paper at a time.

I am someone with a passion for both paper and letter writing. As such, envelope and letter folding were practices I have learned to love. Below are several resource sites, including one with extensive diagrams for a variety of folds for both letters and envelopes. I confess that I tend to fold envelopes (is there anything better than being able to use great paper for both the letter AND the envelope?) more than letters – but you’ll enjoy looking through both.
